About

Equally inspired by shy smiles peeking around a protective parental shield, and boisterous toddler sentences beginning with “ACK-tually…” I am determined to improve the health of the first generation deemed less healthy than their parents.

I’m Erin Psota ND, a Toronto-based Naturopathic Doctor with a focus on children’s health, ADHD and autism spectrum disorders.

Considering my career path from early on:
… babysitter
… swimming instructor
… science and engineering summer camp counselor
… live-in au pair to four French children living in South East Asia it seems that working with children has always been part of my plan.

While I did not grow up naturopathically, a well-timed suggestion to look into naturopathic medicine while I was filling out medical school applications has led me to a profession that’s a perfect fit.  Now I wish I could tell my younger self that yummy banana medicine was NOT really the cure for my too-numerous-to-count ear infections.

Knowing that “being good with kids” would not necessarily be enough to make me a good children’s doctor, I followed a subtle message from the universe (in the form of fine print at the bottom of an email). I continued my naturopathic training in Arizona, to focus specifically on pediatric medicine.

I am committed to guiding parents through the maze of health care decisions so they can rest easy knowing they’re doing the best they can for their children.

After obtaining my Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Waterloo, I completed my medical studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005. Following three years of private practice I completed a selective Pediatric Residency in 2010 at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.

In addition to my private practice, I enjoy teaching at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, and delivering guest lectures in pediatrics at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Keeping up with current research is important to me. I regularly contribute commentaries on studies in pediatric medicine for the Natural Medicine Journal, and am a peer-reviewer for the Integrated Healthcare Practitioners Magazine.

I am pleased to a member of the newly formed Conscious Parenting collective, and a professional member of both the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians (PedANP) and the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors (APND).

My registration is in good standing with the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy-Naturopathy (BDDT-N) and I am an active part of the Examinations and the Complaints Resolution Committees.
